Kurri
Kurri is part of the City of Greater Cessnock, the heart of the winemaking
country of
Australia's famous Hunter Valley. The town
was once famous for its many coalmines, among
them some of the largest in the world.
Today Kurri Kurri is home to the Norsk Hydro Aluminium
smelter, as well as a number of other light
industries. It provides education for the wine industry
through its technical college, and also has
large primary and secondary schools.
Mulbring and Mount Vincent, the rural districts of the parish, were settled by Europeans from the 1820's.
The area is now home to many folk seeking a rural style of living, as well as the continuing agricultural properties
