This modern Church of St Paul was dedicated on 1 May 1964, sixty years after the first Anglican services in the coalmining township of Kurri Kurri, and consecrated on 3 November 1972. Prior to the building of the Church, designed by Rodd and Hay, Architects, worship had been conducted in the present Parish Hall. The construction of the Church was undertaken through the tremendous fundraising efforts of the parishioners, inspired by the then Rector, the late Fr. Cyril Gundry.

The Church of St Paul is located in Lang Street, Kurri Kurri. It is almost adjacent to the main intersection in the centre of town, and is directly opposite the Police Station and Court House.
